Sustainable development of a system means the process of achieving the required development for the system without damaging the functionality of the natural system or natural resources. Re usable materials and energy sources could be used commonly in this process and environmental pollution is reduced as much as possible in this process.

“Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generation to meet their own needs” (International institute for Sustainable Development, 2015).
“Sustainable development is described as a type of development that would enable us to meet our present needs in ways that would not jeopardize the potential of future generation to meet their needs” (Walker, 2006).
“Green building is part of the lorger concept of sustainable development, characterized by Sara Parkin of the British environmental initiative, forum for the future, as a process that enables all people to realize their potential and improve their quality of life in ways that protect and enhance the earth’s life support systems” (Means, 2011)

Critical review
According to the above statements there is little difference. Walker and International institute for sustainable development give same idea for the sustainable development. They state sustainable development is development that use sources in present generation by saving resources for the future generation. But Means state green building concept for the sustainable development. He also state sustainable concept is environmental friendly.

Created definition
According to the our opinions sustainable development is achieving the required development with economical environmental and social wellbeing. Sustainable development recognizes that growth must be both inclusive and environmentally sound to reduce poverty and build shared prosperity for today’s population, and to continue to meet the needs of future generations.
