Land
conservation strategies
.
Land conservation is the
process of protecting natural land and returning developed land to its natural
state. Due to the fact that some land has only had minor disturbances and other
land has been completely destroyed, a variety of techniques are needed to carry
out land conservation.
Land degradation, landslides, soil erosion,
desertification are the major threats to the environment due to the expansion
of agriculture and constructional activities. Growing population and there ever
growing demand has led to the large scale destruction of forest cover and
arable lands and has created a fear of losing this natural resources. Therefore
the present rate of the degradation of land resources must be checked. So there
is an urgent need to conserve the nature. Those needs can be named as to
maintain ecological balance for supporting life, preserve different types of
bio diversity and to preserve natural resources for the present and future
generation.
Land covering is used as a way of
land conservation method. Land cover is
the physical material at the surface of the earth. Land covers include grass,
asphalt, trees bare ground, water, etc. which
are mainly support to preservation of soil. If consider the methods used in
university premises to cover the land, can be named as use grass, blocks, crops
, asphalt and some built up areas. Built up areas occupied the larger amount of
land covering within the university.
Above
photograph is the place located near to the Designing building, grass and some
blocks have been used at there. It helps to enhance the beauty of the nature
and also it prevents soil erosion as well rather keeping soil as it is.

In the
present, there is trend to use both concrete and grass to get the all
advantages of each materials together. Near the place at Goda canteen that has
been used both concrete blocks and grass. Finally it can be said using those
both materials are sustainable as it is easy to get both advantages.
