Land conservation strategy. Grp no 23

Land conservation strategies
Land conservation concerns the flow of water resources across agricultural land and the loss of soil sediment from agricultural land into rivers, lakes and reservoirs. Non profit organizations often pursue land acquisition as a nonpolitical, private property rights approach to conservation of ecological and cultural ressources. Yet acquisition and regulatory land use planning are interwind, both in terms of political strategies and conservation outcomes.
A conservation easement is a method of protecting and preserving significant natural areas and special natural features of the property by restricting selected uses. Preserving family lands from future development can be satisfying act of generosity for people commited to protecting the environment. Ma ny valuable sites of historic importance, natural significance and scenic beauty, protected today would have been developed had it not been for the generosity of individuals, groups and companies.
In the university of Moratuwa we can see various kinds of land coverings around the university such as soil lands, grass lands, natural lands, artificial lands, block lands etc.

Needs for a land conservation
· Maintaining biodiversity is essential for organic waste disposal
· soil formation
· biological nitrogen fixation
· crop and livestock genetics
· biological pest control
· plant pollination
·   pharmaceutical development.
