FORESTATION
PROGRAMS
The
rural forestry program is the protection, management and sustainability of
forests, woodlands and agro forestry resources in the rural landscape. Human greed, abuse and misuse of the country's
forest resources have resulted in the sad state of our uplands today. Resource
depletion, environmental degradation, inequitable access to resources, tendril
issues, upland poverty and the continuous influx of lowland migrants into the
uplands are among the current issues in natural resources management.
Forestation program actually incorporates a wide range of approaches that can contribute to the
formulation, planning and implementation of forest policy at national
and sub national levels. As one of the most important outcomes of international
forest policy dialogue, this means that National Forestation Program is
applicable to all countries and to all types of forests.
There are some advantages of the forestation,
·
Increases greenery
·
Reduces desertification
·
Brings rain in proper
time
·
Minimizes the effect of
drought and Global warming
·
Reduces the pollution
level
·
Minimizes the effect of
soil erosion
·
Helps to control acid
rain
·
Helps the factories to
have a proper use of items without leaving a bad effect in the society and
environment
There are some disadvantages of forestation,
·
Disadvantages of
ecotourism
·
Real opportunity cost
·
Maintenance
Mostly it is mainly done for commercial
purposes. In a natural forest or woodland, the trees are heterogeneous.
Owing to the sensitivity to over usage and slow growths, these forests cannot
be used continuously for commercial purposes like wood products. The process of
planting trees in empty lands helps promote the fast propagation of specific
types of trees for the wood industry. Afforesting is a positive effort in
curbing the over-use and destruction of natural forests. If done with proper
planning and at appropriate sites, it can become a commercially viable solution
for many human needs without harming the balance of nature.
The essential of forest management are, existing forest
should be protected and its productivity improved, diversion of agricultural
lands to forestry should be discourage, conservation of biodiversity should be
strengthened through national park, sanctuary and biosphere reserves and a
forestation program encouraged to meet the local requirement of fuel wood.
